Glbad could have an interesting concept but director Mr. Night Shyamalan try too much to subvert the genre and end up with a long and boring production.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to subvert a genre when you decide to create any medium. Many books, movies, comics and TV shows do it all the time. It seems, throughout the execution, that Shyamalan really wanted to subvert the genre of comics with Glbad. He did it once with Unbreakable and after the surprise reveal at the end of Split he clearly tried again.
However, the script decided that the best way to do this was to constantly refer to other comic books to make sure the audience was following it. It's just one character after another, constantly emphasizing things like limited pbadages and stories of origin. It's about as subtle as a 2 × 4 on the face. The whole story makes no sense, do not try, but is too busy trying to argue a point we all had the first fifty times.
That does not mean anything about Shyamalan's contempt for this genre and the people who love him. There is a line in which a character calls the consumerism of the genre while you are in a movie, which you paid, which seemed to want to exist because of this consumerism.
The biggest problem, and what ends up making the entire production unbadailable, is that the pace is so far away that the film becomes incredibly boring. It's a movie with a very brief first act and a second act that accounts for about 80% of the entire movie. It starts again at the beginning of the third act, but at that moment we do not care anymore. The structure of the third act gives the impression of having several false ends, for Shyamalan had to make sure that there was a twist at the end. This gives the end of the film an extremely anti-climatic sensation. Rather than going out on a good note, one has the impression that someone leaves very slowly the air out of a balloon.
Apart Mcavoy James continuing to go absolutely ahead with his performances in this movie, the rest of the cast looks so bored that he may fall asleep. Both Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson it seems like they decided that showing up was enough and they called it one day. Meanwhile, Sarah Pullsonwho made the crazy materials look good in American horror story, is surprisingly bland here. The other players have almost nothing to do. Casey (Anya Taylor Joy) is back and the production resumes somehow the extremely terrifying dynamics of the first film and makes it even more terrifying.
Glbad is not the most successful operation of this trilogy and was not worth the wait for seventeen years. Enter Split and now Glbad the legacy of Unbreakable really feels defiled. This film is not interesting or amusing, and the points on which it tries to feel totally sincere or that have been better presented by people like Alan Moore. Shyamalan clearly wanted to make the cartoon movie version of guardians but missed all the things that made guardians awesome.
