Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will be sacked if the Black Stars do not win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which will be hosted by Egypt in June.

This was revealed Friday by the chairman of the standardization committee of the Ghana Football Federation (GFA), Dr. Kofi Amoah.

Dr. Amoah confirmed that Appiah, whose contract was due to expire in April of this year, received a new six-month contract.

However, he revealed that they had included in the new contract a clause allowing Appiah to be dismissed if he did not win the most prestigious competition on the continent.

"According to the contract, if Kwesi Appiah does not win the CAN since 2019, he is gone, which is stated in his contract," Kofi Amoah told Adom TV.

The Black Stars have not won the continent's elite competition since 1982.

"The President of Ghana is ready to end 37 years of trophy drought, and I think coach Kwasi Appiah can win the CAN with our prayers and support," added Amoah.

Ghana has qualified as Group F, playing against teams from Kenya and Ethiopia after the other group member, Sierra Leone, was disqualified as a result of the match. interference of the football administration by their government.
