The popular Nigerian singer, Falz, explained why he had stopped going to church.

At the release of the highly anticipated album, 'Moral Instruction', Falz's mother complained that her son was not attending the services.

Femi and Funmi Falana were present at their son's "album listening evening".

During the event, her mother took the opportunity to express her concern about the fact that her son is barely going to church.

Talk about his new album, Funmi, said, "Folarin, you do not go to church and it bores me. I hope you will start going to church this year.

The singer told Vanguard that his mother was right because he did not go to church.

He said: "I have nothing against the church or going to church; everyone has the right to practice the religion of their choice but personally, as a Christian, it has been a while since I am in church. It does not make me less Christian.

"The most important thing is spirituality and your personal connection with God. The reason I did not attend a religious service for a long time is because I went to some churches and during sermons, I was under excessive pressure. There was a time when a pastor called me to the altar just to acknowledge my presence in the church.

"In my mind, I felt that the service did not concern me. I felt that everyone was there to worship God, yet they put undue pressure on me. The pastor gave me the microphone to address the congregation and I was puzzled. what was he expecting from me to say to the congregation? These are some of the problems.

"I just want to go to church and worship God as a regular member of the congregation. I do not want that kind of attention. I was hoping to go to church on a Sunday and it would not be like the other days that I'm in a public place or doing a show, "said the singer.

About the reasons why he shaved his beard, Falz added, "I did not shave my beard because of the album; it was just a coincidence. I was shooting a project related to the album and I had to look much younger and that's why I shaved my beard.

"I've had mixed reactions since I shaved my beard; Some people say to me: "Please, go find our beard". I did not know we had a beard together. Other people told me that they loved the new look and that I'm still a "nice boy" with or without a beard. "
