Gonzalo Higuain could become a Chelsea player on Monday.
The Blues are about to clinch the Argentinean loan from Juventus until the end of the season.
The boss Maurizio Sarri is ready to meet and the attacker works in the former club of Naples after the owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich, approved a short-term contract of six months.
If the ex-ace Real Madrid Higuain impresses, the Premier League club will have the opportunity to extend its 12-month stay in West London.
The 31-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at AC Milan.
But he should arrive in London in the next 48 hours to undergo a medical examination and confirm his move.
Higuain will seek to reproduce the form that he had under Sarri's command in Naples in which he had already scored 36 goals two seasons ago.
Marina Granovskaia, head of Chelsea's transfers, is expected to close the deal for Higuain. Sarri is confident of strengthening his strike force.
"Marina knows my opinion on how to improve the team," said Sarri.
"I'm confident because I know Marina works very hard."
Blues boss Sarri hopes Higuain will not be the only player to travel to Stamford Bridge before Jan. 31.
