The family of the late Dr Kwadjo Opare-Hammond, former General Manager of Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) and first Member of Parliament for Adentan County, scheduled his funeral on March 2, 2019 in Adentan, Greater Accra Region.

According to Benjamin Opare-Hammond, the eldest son of Dr. Opare-Hammond, there will be a family reunion on March 1, 2019, followed by a pre-burial service on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

He stated that his father had returned from Dubai on Thursday, January 10, 2019 and had complained to his mother that he was not feeling well. So he went to the hospital the same day and received infusions.

"At 2 am Friday, he was rushed to Legon Hospital, he received oxygen and later, my sister, who is a doctor, asked to be taken to the hospital. Korle Bu University Hospital, "Benjamin told GhanaWeb.

According to Ben, the doctors of Legon and Korle Bu gave the best treatment to his father.

"Even though his oxygen level was not stable, he was responding to the treatment, but his death was pronounced later in the day," he said.

Dr. Kwadwo Opare-Hammond died on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Korle-Bu University Hospital after a short illness.

He was appointed managing director of the mineral trading company in 2017.

Under his reign, the PMMC and the Ghana Royal Gold Limited Company entered into a partnership for the construction of a state-owned gold refinery, which is expected to create 1,000 jobs by 2019.

In 2014, Dr. Opare-Hammond was dismissed as Director of Finance and Administration of the New Patriotic Party following allegations of financial irregularities and disobedience to the National President. of the time, Paul Afoko.

In 2004, he became the first Member of Parliament for Adenta District after the separation of the constituency of Ashaiman constituency.
