Trent Alexander-Arnold signs a new long-term contract with Liverpool

A graduate of the Academy who joined the Reds at the age of six, Alexander-Arnold promised his future in his children's club at Anfield on Saturday.

And the back side told Liverpoolfc.com that he was delighted to do it shortly after taking the pen.

"I'm ecstatic and really proud," Alexander-Arnold said. "I feel privileged to have the support and confidence of the club to offer me a new contract.

"There was no doubt in my mind to sign and extend my years with the club. Let's hope we can achieve a lot of success in those years.

"As soon as they offered the contract, there was no hesitation. What has me the most easiest, is to have people around me to make sure that I am able to focus on football as much as possible and to conclude the 39 agreement as soon as possible. It was my brother in particular, my manager, who played this role and allowed me to focus on football and not to be distracted, that's the point.

"The last 18 months have been particularly special. Let's hope the next 18 months and even further that it will be even more special. "

The 20-year-old has made rapid progress since his debut in October 2016.

After establishing himself as a regular player on Jürgen Klopp's squad, he has already played 67 first-round matches with Liverpool, scoring four goals.

Alexander-Arnold also gained international recognition at senior level and represented England at the 2018 World Cup. He has already won five caps and scored his first goal for his country in a 3- victory. 0 against the United States at Wembley last November.

The Scouser, who signed his last contract with Liverpool 18 months ago, becomes the last member of the Klopp team to promise his future to the club.

Andy Robertson made it earlier this week, while Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Joe Gomez have also entered into new deals since April 2018.
