Sydney: The Australian national team will make its debut in the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019 with a new head coach after Alen Stajcic's resignation from his post on Saturday.
Football Federation Australia General Manager David Gallop AM revealed the reason for this decision, which comes less than five months before the start of Australia's campaign for France 2019 against Italy.
"The ultimate responsibility for driving change and leading a high performance environment that puts the team in the best position to achieve what it is capable of is the responsibility of the head coach," he said.
"We are no longer convinced that Alen is the right person to lead the team and the staff."
"FFA is committed to creating the best possible environment for the Matildas and this change is made in this goal. We will continue to look at other aspects of team composition and monitor the Matildas environment in the weeks and months ahead as we prepare for the FIFA Women's World Cup in France. "

As of 2014, Australia was finalist of two Asian Women's Cups of AFC and reached the last eight places at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and at the 2016 Olympic Games under the reign of from Stajcic.
The selection process for the interim head coach who will guide the team to the world finals in France will now begin.
