Fabian Schar revealed that he was desperate to give Newcastle United fans something back after their loyal support this season.
The Magpies had played five games without a win and had not had the taste of winning at home since November 10, against AFC Bournemouth, until the double Schar leads them to score three important points.
Addressing Chronicle Live after the match, Schar said, "I love playing for Newcastle. With our fans, it gives me an extraordinary feeling.
"Our fans are great here and elsewhere. We want to give them something in return.
"When you score a goal like this, you see all these faces go crazy and smiling and celebrating it is the best feeling you can have as a player.
"It was a crucial win too, so it's great."
The goals were the first for Schar to wear a black and white jersey after arriving from Deportivo la Coruna this summer for a good price of 3 million pounds.
He said, "It was a special day for me.
"I scored my first goals and that really helped the team.
"The three points are more important and it's the perfect day for us."
When asked if he intended to score such a fantastic goal when the ball was recovered, the Swiss international said: "You do not think too much when you pick up the ball at this point, you come to try to do something.
"In this case, everything went well.
"I scored with my left foot, which does not happen often.
"But you do not think you'll take the ball that far and score like that!"
