Sone Aluko ends drought 10 months after Reading's defeat in Derby County

The Nigerian international put an end to its fruitless run in front of goal with a cool finish but that was not enough to avoid defeat at Pride Park

Sone Aluko came into play to score his first goal in 10 months as Reading sided with a 2-1 loss to Derby County on Saturday.

The goals of Duane Holmes and Harry Wilson gave Frank Lampard scorers a two – goal lead in the first half, before Aluko 's effort halved the deficit for visitors.

Ovie Ejaria scored for his first goal since March 2018 in the 67th minute. He was introduced as a substitute in the 46th minute.

This effort was Aluko's first goal in the 2018-19 campaign after 14 outings as the Royals continued to struggle in the second tier.

Reading languish in the drop zone with 23 points in 28 games, two points safe. They visit their troubled compatriots Bolton Wanderers for their next championship game on January 29th.
