Almost a year ago to the day, Lisa Wilkinson debuted on The Project and plunged Australia into tears with the equally heartbreaking and heart-wrenching story of a man who lost his wife and then greeted her little boy via a substitute.

The episode of tonight's The projectThe TV presenter is ready to arouse new emotions when she will witness the moment when the surrogate mother of the couple will be reunited with the boy she gave birth to.

Last January, viewers met Queensland's young couple, Gareth and Bec Arena, who desperately wanted to become parents, but who could not because of Bec's cystic fibrosis diagnosis.

It was then that their friend Jessica Brockie, who already had two children, intervened with an incredible offer to carry their baby.

Unfortunately, Bec, 30, has died of complications from her illness in the middle of Jess's pregnancy. One of her last acts was to name the son she never met: Rixon James.

And just like that, Rixon James Arena has arrived in this world!
What an incredible trip to be part of. Memories that @JRBrockie and I will cherish forever

In the preview of tonight's episode, Jess – who is due to return to South Africa right after her delivery – talks about her joy at finally finding Rixon a year later.

"I have goose bumps even now. It was amazing, because he's almost like a little boy now, "she moaned. "It was amazing."

Meanwhile, radiant Gareth describes his son as his "raison d'être".

"Gareth, you seem to absolutely prosper," the TV host told him.

"I like it every day. It's hard work, but it's well worth it. That's all my reason for living now, "says Gareth, adding that he talks about Bec to his son" all the time, every night. "

"I tell her how good she was and how much she would like him. I'm sure she can see it wherever she is, wherever she is. "

During the interview, Jess admits that she would consider becoming a surrogate mother to Gareth and his wife, who still have an embryo.

"To have another piece of Bec in the world … If Gareth wanted to do something, I would not exclude it," she says.
