Member of Parliament for the riding of Jomoro in the Western Region, Hon. Paul Essien, better known as "Jomoro David", donated six Ghanaian cedis backpack sprayers to cocoa farmers in some cocoa producing communities.
This donation is part of his commitment to the 2016 campaign to boost cocoa production in the riding.
Donate during the weekend to Tweako No.1, the Hon. Paul Essien said his donation was keeping his promise to support the district's agriculture with the financial strength and logistics needed to improve their standard of living.
The deputy, who is also deputy minister of the chieftaincy and religious affairs, described the cocoa sector as the backbone of the economy and listed his significant contribution to the country's infrastructure development.
He also highlighted the government's "Plant for Food and Employment" initiative, which creates jobs for youth and reintroduces the pollination and banding program, providing farmers with equal benefits to stimulate cocoa production.
He urged farmers to observe all the practices required to enable them to reap the benefits of their labor to improve their livelihoods.
The MP advised beneficiary communities to properly manage the machines and to "adopt good cultural practices such as periodic maintenance of these machines".
He also advised farmers to always get their chemicals from the source and approved agents, so as not to use the bad chemicals that could destroy their cocoa plants.
L & # 39; Hon. Paul Essien seized the opportunity and pledged to build a cogeneration complex for these communities to provide quality care to residents.
He donated 50 bags of cement to the communities to use for the foundation of the building.
He also asked them to join President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government in developing the country.
