Corica says Rotation of Sydney's Summer of Heroes program is crucial

According to Sydney FC coach Steve Corica, rotation is a must, as he attends a long series of meetings at the Hyundai A-League's Summer of Heroes.

The Sky Blues won a 1-0 win over the Newcastle Jets on Saturday afternoon with a goal from Nigel Boogaard in the 44th minute. They will have to save it with a trip to Wellington on Wednesday.

Corica seemed to like the influx of matches and the test against a team full of quality and international experience.

"We want to try to run the boys, especially at this time, and let some of them rest when we can," said Corica.

"Ninko was sick, so we did not really have a choice. Joshy (Brilliant) has been suspended.

"I thought Anthony Caceres was very good in the middle of the field. He did a great job, he won a lot of balls and he is very comfortable on the ball, which is good. First departure for him, it's great.

The meetings are tight and fast for Sydney FC, who has to face the Melbourne Victory in an exciting Big Blue less than 96 hours after their match in Wellington.

The matches will play a big role in determining Sydney FC's final position: Kevin Muscat's team has the same points as the Sky Blues, while three points for Wellington Phoenix will bring them closer to Sydney FC and continue their resurgence inspired by Mark Rudan.

Psychologically, the Phoenix may have the impression of having an advantage after a first-half attack at Jubilee Oval and the team takes an unmatched 3-0 lead.

Corica emphasizes the importance of rotation in this busy time and looks forward to the return of some key players.

"We have a match in Wellington Wednesday, another Saturday in Melbourne, so they go very fast," said Corica.

"We will have Ninko back, however, he will be back for this match in Wellington, Joshy will be back too, and Paolo Retre will be back, I think.

"We can refresh some of the boys in this match."
