Manchester City beat Huddersfield without a manager to come back four points behind leaders of the Premier League, Liverpool.
David Wagner left the Burrows by mutual agreement on Monday with the club's late league, leaving coach Mark Hudson temporarily in charge.
City, who has scored 19 goals in his last three games, was not at his best in the first half at John Smith Stadium.
But the defending champions took the lead in the 18th minute when Danilo's long-range effort was deflected by Christopher Schindler.
The visitors then struck twice, two minutes after the break, to put the game to rest, Leroy Sane creating the first goal and scoring the second.
First, the German striker hit a center for Raheem Sterling to dive and lead his 12th goal of the season.
Then Sergio Aguero had a good cushioning so Sane could run and finish ahead of Jonas Lossl.
Pep Guardiola's players were not part of the vintage, but they remain in the title race.
Huddersfield has contacted Jan Siewert, coach of Borussia Dortmund, for the vacancy, but he will face a mammoth task to keep him at the top of the pack, if he takes over.
It was their ninth loss in 10 league games and the result leaves the Terriers at the bottom of the table and 10 points for safety.
