This year's WWE Royal Rumble arrives on January 27 and the Road to WrestleMania is warming up more than ever. Many fans want Becky Lynch to be a surprise participant and a winner of the Women's Rumble, but could Ronda Rousey shock the world by doing this and challenging Lynch at WrestleMania 35?
Just one week away from the Royal Rumble, there is no shortage of people expecting Becky Lynch to shock the world as a surprise competitor who wins the Women's Rumble. However, it seems like a possibility that seems to hover forever underpinning this concept being reversed. Ronda Rousey herself could be the one who would become a surprise participant and go to the end.
The main reason why fans want Becky Lynch to win the Rumble is to be able to challenge Ronda Rousey for the Women's Championship title. When Becky Lynch's popularity began to increase just prior to last year's Survivor series, she quickly became one of WWE's most fascinating characters.
Lynch as a SmackDown women's champion, it seemed like we were going to have a spectacular first-ever showdown at the Survivor Series between her and Raw female champion Ronda Rousey. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
In an episode of Monday Night Raw before Survivor Series, Becky Lynch invited the women of SmackDown Live to attack the superstars of Raw to send a message before the brand confrontation at Survivor Series. During a fight in the ring, Becky caught a wandering punch from Nia Jax that caused her serious damage and a concussion.
The very moment only increased the number of fans who clamored for Lynch, who continued to wage war on Raw despite her bloody face and the obvious injuries she had suffered. The next night, at SmackDown Live, Becky is perhaps the most popular act of any WWE. Unfortunately, she was not medically allowed to compete.
The injury to Jax's hands leaving her temporarily on the shelf, Becky was forced to choose a replacement for Survivor Series. Lynch reluctantly chose her former friend Charlotte Flair to represent SmackDown against Rousey. Flair was beaten against Rousey, but eventually lost by disqualification after being dumped on Rousey with a kendo stick.
As amusing as the match between Rousey and Flair was, fans were always eager to see "The Man" Becky Lynch face the self-proclaimed "Baddest Woman on the Planet". title defense at TLC.
Rousey appeared and blew up Lynch and Flair by sending them sneaking on a ladder and helping current SmackDown champion Asuka win the title for the first time. Keeping all this in mind, fans are surprised to see the culmination of the rivalry between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35.
Lynch no longer holding the women's championship SmackDown, we come to think that she will not be up against Asuka in the Royal Rumble, but it will enter the Women's Rumble by surprise and she will go off. With a win, she would have the opportunity to challenge the champion of raw women, Ronda Rousey.
This is an excellent possibility, and Becky's growing popularity makes it a logical choice to achieve such a feat in the second Rumble Royal Women. However, this is not the only way for us to get this collision at WrestleMania. In fact, there is another way that would be more surprising, more intriguing and that would allow to better found a deeper rivalry here.
One of the underlying themes of the emerging rivalry between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey is the tension between NXT's Four Horsewomen and MMA's Four Horsewomen. Lynch and Flair were both members of the NXT Quartet, while Rousey was part of the MMA counterpart group.
Let's not forget that Sasha Banks, the woman defending Ronda Rousey for the women's title at the Royal Rumble, is also part of the NXT Four Horsewomen. Becky Lynch having lost her title because of Rousey's interference, Lynch could return the favor by helping Banks to dethrone Rousey as a women's champion.
If Becky also managed to regain his title at Asuka, the table would be ready for Ronda Rousey to reverse the situation regarding the expected result. Without the championship, Rousey could enter the Women's Rumble, cross the distance and challenge Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35.
WWE could do just that because it wanted to be unpredictable, but another factor at stake was the possible transfer of SmackDown to Fox Sports in October 2019. Thanks to the recognition of Rousey's traditional name, WWE could decide to let it be a staple. SmackDown before the brand goes to Fox Sports.
Regardless of the reasoning, tracing the path that leads to Becky Lynch and the potential collision between WrestleMania and Ronda Rousey could change the story while leaving us on the road to a dream match between those two. This would also add an extra layer to the potential match between four riders against four riders that the WWE is building.
