Demarai Gray admitted that deputy director Claude Puel had been tough with his Leicester stars at Wolves.
The led Foxes led Wanderers 2-0 at the break after a very difficult start to the match.
Gray halved the arrears after the interval before Leicester's two-time tie (2-2, 3-3).
They eventually lost to the winner of Diogo Jota, but the Frenchman Puel, usually calm and measured, became fiery.
Gray said, "We needed a little kick and that had to be done.
"We came back shooting and we would have taken the score of 3-3.
"It would have been a good point in a tough place like the wolves. But we have to manage the game better.
"However, we have a lot of merit for the boys: we stayed together, dug deep and did well to come back to 3-3."
Leicester has now conceded the first goal in 15 of its 23 league games this quarter.
This has added to Foxes fans' criticism against Puel, who still seems unsure of his best team.
He is the bookies favorite to be the next Premier League boss to have the ax – with Brendan Rodgers, David Wagner and Rafa Benitez linked to his job.
These chances could be reduced with tough games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Gray added, "This is football for you, there is always speculation and pressure.
"All we can do is continue doing what we do week after week. We have had good results in recent weeks against the best teams. I think we will continue to work hard and the results will continue to come.
"We had some tough games, but we already showed that we could play against any team and we beat some of the best teams in December. We are more than capable of getting results. "
