Tottenham transfers news: Andy Carroll is shocked by attacks on attackers

Mauricio Pochettino could turn to Andy Carroll in search of a solution to his shortage of attackers.

With Harry Kane injured until March and Son Heung-Min at the Asian Cup, Fernando Llorente is the only available Spurs senior striker.

The Spaniard scored a goal against Fulham before Pochettino's men came back to win a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage.

And this could prompt the Spurs manager to look for alternative options before closing the January transfer window.

Carroll, 30, could be available for only £ 2 million, with his contract with the London Stadium expiring at the end of the season, reports The Sun.

But Marko Arnautovic could defeat a possible contract if the Hammers manager, Manuel Pellegrini, decided that he should keep Carroll as a cover for the Austrian in trouble.

Tottenham could be ready to offer an 18-month contract to the former Liverpool and Newcastle striker if Pochettino decides he is the perfect agent to replace Kane.

Earlier this month, Carroll admitted he was playing for his future at West Ham and was determined to win a new contract.

The attacker worth £ 100,000 a week scored against Birmingham in the third round of the FA Cup at his first start in a year.

He signed a six-year contract with West Ham in 2013 with an option for two more years.

Luckily, Carroll suffered injuries during his stay at the club, which leaves some uncertainty about the possibility of extending his contract.

"Of course, I want to stay," he says. "I'm just playing football as is and not thinking about it.

"Yes, I want to stay and I want a new contract but I can not really think about it every day. I just play football when I have the opportunity.

"I have a two-year option at the end of the season and we'll see what happens.

"I have to play a few more games like this one, play when I am and, as the manager says, I have to impress him in the minutes that he has given me."

Carroll suffered a succession of knee and hamstring injuries and started against Birmingham after an ankle setback prevented him from returning in the first four months of this season.
