FLIR Systems Wins $ 89 Million Contract with French Armed Forces for the Establishment of a Black Hornet Personal Recognition System
The French Defense Market Agency will incorporate FLIR nano-UAV technology for military operations
FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) today announced the signature of a contract with the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) to support the French program of operational pocket drones ( Drop). The contract has a ceiling value of $ 89 million for the supply of FLIR Black Hornet® 3 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and personal recognition system (PRS) to support the operations of the French armed forces.
The Black Hornet PRS is the world's smallest unmanned aerial system (UAS) and is currently deployed in more than 30 countries. The Black Hornet allows the fighter to maintain situational awareness, threat detection and surveillance regardless of where the mission leads them. Equipped with electro-optical / infrared sensors and capable of flying up to 25 minutes, the Black Hornet bridges the gap between airborne and ground-based sensors, offers the same situation detection and threat detection capabilities as larger unmanned, overland and land-based vehicles.
