Until 2019, in the Dancing on Ice series, Vanessa Bauer was known only as a professional skater from the ITV Talent Show, who had won the 2018 series with Jake Quickenden, former X Factor star.

Vanessa Putri Bauer was born in Berlin, Germany, in May 1996. She became a national junior couple champion with her partner Nolan Seegert at the 2013 German figure skating championships.
Vanessa was not selected for the World Championships and does not have a senior medal, instead she chose to work for Willy Bietak Productions Inc., which produces skating events and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Company.
After working in several cruise lounges, she moved to London in 2017 and joined Dancing on Ice as a figure skater.
Vanessa also has a background in dance and acrobatics.

The first Vanessa series was paired with X Factor and Jake Quickenden.
The 2018 series was back after a four-year hiatus. From the beginning, Jake and Vanessa seduced the judges and the audience with their performances and abs.
In the final, despite the fact that Vanessa was hit by novavirus during the series, the duo took the win against Coronation Street actress, Brooke Vincent, second-seeded and rugby star Max Evans, who reached third place.

The couple had seemed close, regularly posting loved photos of their sunny vacation with loved messages on each other.
However, Vanessa shocked everyone when she announced her separation just as she embarked on the concerts of Dancing on Ice 2019 with Wes Nelson, her new partner who strangely resembles Louis.
A source at the time claimed that Louis was upset by his close relationship with Wes, who had blossomed during training.
They told the Sun: "Louis was behind the scenes during the rehearsals while Vanessa and Wes were training for their great performance. Nobody saw their separation happen.
"They seemed perfectly fine – there was no talking, no tension … nothing." Louis just seemed to be the perfect supportive boyfriend.
"It was a shock to everyone because they seemed pretty happy together, but maybe all this was an act."
What happened to Megan?
During Wes' first ice hockey performance with Vanessa, the judges commented on the couple's chemistry and skills on the rink.
Home viewers quickly pointed to the very dark expression on the face of Wes Love Island's girlfriend, Megan Barton Hanson, who listened to the comments and watched the audience's performance.
The next day, Meg went to Instagram and totally called Vanessa in the most public modes.
She wrote: "@@ Vanessabauer_skates loves that you decide to announce your break with your boyfriend the night of your first performance with my boyfriend!
"You never contacted me one time or invited me to watch you coach, it hurt to introduce you to me last night, you do not have to." I did not even look in LOL's eyes.
"I hope the tactical breakup did the headlines you wanted baby. @Wesnelson"
Vanessa reacted by posting a photo of herself with her skating partner, Hamish Gaman, and shared a comment from a fan about her win, with a laughing emoji.
She then wrote an article about skating being the most important thing for her and had a say to Megan in mentioning the empowerment of women.
"Every time I'm on the ice, everything is fine again, I'm very grateful for the number of the voting window yesterday," she said.
"There is nothing in the world that excites me more and it makes me happier than figure skating!
"The number of nights today was an absolute dream, I can not thank everyone for all the love and support we have given to the #strongwoman #DancingOnIce #womenempowerment."
Wes supported his girlfriend by calling Meg's enemies instead of Vanessa.
Meg then appeared on Loose Women to talk about the saga and claimed that Vanessa was showing a "lack of respect" by not asking her to come to the rink to meet her.
"Her boyfriend has been invited to come down," Meg told the panel. "I feel like a woman, she should have reached out to me and introduced herself to me."
She went on to say that she was jealous that Wes spends hours a day skating in Lycra and that she had the tired version at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, Wes, who claimed that the two women had aired privately, and Vanessa were photographed laughing and joking during the rehearsals.
