Gonzalo Higuain left Milan Wednesday morning for London where he will complete his medical file in Chelsea.
AC Milan has reached an agreement Tuesday night on the transfer of Krzysztof Piatek, who should also be treated within the club Serie. Milan will pay Genoa £ 31m (€ 35m) plus bonuses, according to Sky in Italy.
The arrival of Piatek at San Siro means that the Higuain loan to Chelsea can be completed.
Higuain was ruled out of the Milan squad for his 2-0 win over Genoa in Serie A on Monday, as manager Gennaro Gattuso admitted that the striker had announced his intention to join Chelsea.
Krzysztof Piatek has scored 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa this season after joining the Polish club Krakow this summer.
The 31-year-old is currently on loan to Milan from Juventus and has scored six goals since the start of the season.
Milan and Chelsea have already agreed to a loan agreement until June with the obligation to renew it for 12 months under certain conditions.
The agreement will allow Higuain to regain his former manager, Maurizio Sarri, who tied the Serie A record for goals scored in one season, with 36 for Napoli in 2015/16.
