The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and Nestlé Ghana Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a view to forging solid cooperation in the exchange of scientific and technical information.
The public-private partnership agreement aims to improve the alignment of laboratory badysis methods and capacity building in laboratory testing of food products in order to improve product safety and quality standards. The partnership will also contribute to improving the technical skills of staff and promoting best practices.
Under the terms of the MoU, GSA will work with Nestlé on the standardization and alignment of applicable test methods; perform interlaboratory comparisons in agreed areas; and conduct ISO / IEC 17025 internal audits and security and compliance audits according to a schedule agreed between the two parties.
In addition, there will be an exchange of knowledge on laboratory information management systems, the use of GSA laboratories for compliance with standards and compliance with the component limits defined by Ghanaian standards.
Nestlé, for its part, will offer the GSA the opportunity to visit Nestlé Laboratories, share relevant information through capacity building programs to badist GSA and make inter-laboratory comparisons in agreed areas, using ISO accredited standards to improve standards in Ghana.
