The school cleans and disinfects its building and its buses as a precaution
CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Staff at Mackenzie Towne School, in the southeast of the city, take precautions after a student's diagnosis of typhoid fever.
In a letter to parents Wednesday, the elementary school said it was in touch with Alberta Health Services and that even though the risk of exposure is low, the school and buses are cleaned and sanitized.
They say that the child has contracted the infection during a trip to the outside of the country.
Parents are advised to ensure that their children wash their hands often and keep them at home if they are sick.
