An Accra circuit court ordered the Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) to produce the minutes of a conversation between Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central and an official of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

according to The court issued this order to the Ghanaian Times on January 22 at the request of the Special Prosecutor (SP), Martin Alamisi Burns Kaiser Amidu.

Mr. Amidu told the Accra Circuit Court "2", chaired by Ms. Ruby Naa Adjeley-Quayson, that the Special Prosecutor's Office (OSP) had already been ordered to conduct a forensic examination. on three mobile phone numbers of the Director General of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Ghana Police.

He urged the court to exercise the powers conferred upon it by the 2008 Electronic Transactions Act (Law No. 772) of Articles 100, 101 and 103.

Mr. Amidu, who is known for his strong stance against corruption, recently hinted that he would soon start prosecuting corruption-related cases.

In proposing the motion to order the telecommunications giant to produce recordings of the conversation between the legislator and the GRA agent, the SP indicated that the information it wanted was between December 2018 and January 2019.

In August 2018, Mr. Amidu reported the legislator to the Organization for Economic Crime and Organized Crime (EOCO) for allegedly attempting to block his investigation.

Amidu said the Bawku MP sent leaders, pastors and leaders to intervene on his behalf.
