Danny Young accused Tiwa Savage of using his words with prior consent
The official music video of Tiwa Savage's "One", uploaded to YouTube, was removed by the video-sharing website following a copyright complaint by Danny Young.
The conversation about whether or not Danny Young had a case began late last year after the singer accused Tiwa Savage of using the content of her 2009 song, "Oju Tiwon" in his song of "One" without his consent.
Danny Young claimed a line in his song, "O odun lan ri orogbo, o do o lan ri ahusa, o dododun lan ri omo obi lori igba" – which means "cash crops such as cola and nuts are precious every year, "was used by Tiwa Savage and as she did not bother to ask permission, it was an intellectual flight.
Just months after the charge, Tiwa Savage's video is not available on YouTube.
"This is not a social media battle, it's just what to do," Danny Young told NET, while confirming that he had made that statement.
"When I heard his song last year, my lawyers contacted his lawyers, but they ignored us. They thought it was just a little boy who was talking. Do not get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for Tiwa Savage and I also respect his talent, but you see, two brothers can have a trial in court while maintaining good relationships. "
When Danny Young raised the issue last year, some of the public claimed that his claims were false. Their argument was based on the fact that the said sentence was a proverb, so that no one had the right to do so.
In response, Danny Young says the argument is flawed.
He says: "It is not a proverb, the media misinterpreted it saying that it was Sunny Ade who had sung it first, but Sunny Ade used only a few lines of the proverb, while the Tiwa verse was one of my lines, as well as the extra rhythm and lyrics that I added.
