President Akufo-Addo
The North Regional Secretariat of the new Patriotic Party (NPP), in power, expressed its deep gratitude to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, who put an end to the deadlock in which the stalemate in the chieftaincy of Dagbang.
In a statement signed by Regional Chief Scribe, lawyer Sulley Sambian, the secretariat is overwhelmed by the political maturity and neutrality of the president facing the blockage of the Dagbang chieftaincy.
The statement congratulated the new Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II for elevating him to the rank of Dagbang Namship as suzerain.
Below the complete statement:
NPP NORTHERN REGION
THANK YOU, H. E. NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO FOR THE RESTORATION OF PEACE IN DAGBANG
The Northern New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Northern Regional Secretariat is deeply grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for her leadership and her campaign promise to ensure lasting peace in the traditional Dagbang zone.
The holding of the funerals of the two lords of Dagbang and the ensuing seeding of Alhaji Abukari Mahama II as Yaa-Naa background clearly demonstrate the exemplary leadership of the president.
On several platforms, the president reaffirmed his determination to ensure a peaceful settlement of the Dagbang chieftaincy problem.
In November 2018, at a meeting hosted by President Nayiri, ruler of the Mamprugu Kingdom, the president reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that Dagbang regained its glory.
He repeated this at Dakpema Palace after the death of Naa Dakpema Mohammed Dawuni Alhbadan.
The president stated unequivocally that he was neither Abudu nor Andani, which is why he had no personal interest in the issue of Dagbang chieftaincy.
True to his word, Dagbang not only managed to celebrate the funeral, but there is a worthy successor to the late Naa Yakubu Andani II.
This not only ended the factional conflict that lasted for more than 30 years between the two royal families, but also put an end to the chieftaincy policy in the region.
The NDC has always used the unfortunate death of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II as a major campaign tool in Dagbang and their hope has been wiped out.
The Northern Region has been a political propaganda theater of the NDC opposition to chieftaincy, resulting in a destructive record for development
Today, President Nana Akufo Addo has remained in history as having left a lasting legacy in Dagbang.
Thank you, Mr. President, for this remarkable achievement.
You have not only succeeded in restoring lasting peace in Dagbong, but you have also created jobs for Ghanaians through the NABCO food plantation and the reinstatement of nurses' allowances without SHS, the list can still be lengthened. .
The political beneficiaries of the loot of a conflict between leaders would have a lot of work to do in 2020 because they never expected an unprecedented record from you.
They could not even claim to support the path of peace when the road map had been announced.
They made selective donations to the Andani Gate at the funeral of the late Naa Yakubu Andani II.
They failed to honor the invitation of Abudu door. Unfortunately for them, the current Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II promises to be a Dagbang unifier.
It is not surprising that his selection received an enthusiastic welcome from both gates.
We can only be more proud as Northerners now than ever.
Many people thought that your campaign promise was going on as usual; many thought that the promise to make sure there was a king in Dagbong was a sacred cake in the sky; many of us thought it was an extremely risky political decision
Opponents said that it was not feasible; the unfortunate and the pessimistic said that you would preside over the bloodshed if you exercised that risky political will to celebrate the funeral.
Indeed, they predicted misfortune. You did not give up. Of course, you have exposed your mind "can do" and this has borne fruit
Opponents said that it was not feasible; the unfortunate and the pessimistic said that you would preside over the bloodshed if you exercised that risky political will to execute the funeral. Indeed, they predicted misfortune. You did not give up. Of course, you have exposed your "power to do" and that has paid off.
Unfortunately, these defeatists are now trying to harvest where they did not sow.
These opponents, tragic preachers and beneficiaries of the Dagbong chieftaincies, are desperately trying to join this historic achievement.
They flooded social media with fake images of John Mahama in a warm hug, the current Yaa Naa trying to pbad for a recent event.
For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Mahama did NOT visit the Yaa Naa.
The photo was taken months ago when Mr. Mahama went to the Savelugu constituency to campaign to run the NDC as a standard bearer.
Not only did you look after the peace of Dagbon, you also gave us two more areas in the northern region.
