Egyptian club Ismaily was disqualified from the African Champions League after its supporters forced the dropping of Friday's home game against Club Africain, the African Football Confederation said.

Ismaily's supporters threw stones and water bottles at the match officials and Tunisian club players, forcing Cameroon referee Neant Alioum to order the teams to go to the locker room during a break.

The visitors led 2-1 then.

CAF has sent Ismaily out of this season's competition, having eliminated Algeria's Setif Sportive Entente after similar scenes in a match against Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

Ismaily's results in Group C have been canceled, putting Algeria's CS Constantine ahead with six points in two games.

The club of African clubs and DR Congo, TP Mazembe, has no point in a match.

TP Mazembe beat Ismaily 2-0.

Egypt was named host of the 2019 African Nations Cup earlier this month, despite a number of incidents involving unruly fans in recent years.

The violence forced local officials to limit the number of spectators to 5,000 at national matches.
