Arsenal would have convinced PSG to allow midfielder Christopher Nkunku to be loaned to the Emirates Stadium with a view to a final contract at the end of the season.
Unai Emery encouraged Europe to sign a new middle this month while Aaron Ramsey was heading to the exit door. Discussions on an agreement for Barcelona with Denis Suarez are well documented – but on Thursday morning, it appeared that the talks between the clubs had stalled and the Spaniard was now to stay with the giants of La Liga.
However, the Gunners have evolved quickly and it seems that Emery and Co has made a breakthrough with PSG following an agreement with Nkunku.
The 21-year-old has struggled to save time at Parc des Princes this season, with just 13 Ligue 1 matches under Thomas Tuchel, with most of his starts being reserved for national cup matches.
according to The TeamArsenal has reached an agreement with PSG that Nkunku will be loaned to North London until the end of the season with an option to buy it this summer in case he impresses at Emirates. It is this factor (the purchase option as opposed to the obligation buy) which resulted in the failure of discussions on Suarez – but it seems that PSG was much more willing to play ball.
The player is described as a midfielder, and has appeared more regularly under the orders of former PSG boss, Emery, last season, playing 20 times and scoring four goals. It is clear that Emery is the man who integrated him into the first team of PSG during the period when the manager of Arsenal was in the French capital.
The Team indicates however that the agreement is subject to the signing by PSG of a potential replacement. They had been in Frenkie De Jong before moving to Barcelona on Wednesday and we are now thinking of considering a move for Leandro Paredes, Chelsea target Zenith St. Petersburg.
The club should also lose Adrien Rabiot at the end of the season, the midfielder is not currently considered by Tuchel in the stalemate of his contract.
Nkunku has been selected six times by France at under-21 level and has been familiar with Matteo Guendouzi since the time they spent together at this level. the latter has played a leading role for Arsenal since his arrival from Lorient last summer.
Former star of gunners Meanwhile, Paul Merson urged the club to consider signing a Watford star after claiming he would improve their current midfield options.
