Voter Registration Mr. Samuel Tettey denied allegations that the EC had established a new register for the election

The Electoral Commission (EC) announced Thursday that it will use the 2016 voters' register to hold the by-election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, scheduled for January 31, 2019.

Mr Samuel Tettey, Director of the Electoral Service at the EC, informed the media of the Commission's preparations for the next by-election. He denied claims that the EC had established a new register for the election.

"We have consistently involved all political parties on the inter-party advisory committee in all processes. We are therefore surprised that any party claims that a different registry will be used, "he said.

"The rules have not changed. Whoever gets the most votes wins the elections. "

Mr. Tettey badured all political parties that the EC would ensure a level playing field for all candidates.

"We have a robust system so that no one can rig the election in favor of another party. The election rules are the same. You must establish your identity to know who you are on the voters list, a man – a vote, and observe the secret ballot, "he said.

He added that all election materials, including validation stamps, ballot boxes, the register and the notepad, were ready and that officials had received the necessary training to carry out the elections.

In total, three people; Mrs. Lydia Esimam Alhbadan of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Delali Kwasi Brempong representing the National Democratic Congress, and Mr. William Dowokpor, candidate of the Progressive People's Party, run for the elections.
