Michael Clifford, guitarist for 5 Seconds of Summer, confirmed that the band was working on new music in an interview with Loudwire at NAMM.

Clifford made an appearance with Gibson today (Jan. 24) to unveil his iconic new Gibson guitar, the Melody Maker. The guitar, which Clifford said will play at every show, will be available to fans in a black cherry finish. During the interview, Clifford also said that the group had already started working on a new album. Their previous version Youngblood was released in June 2018 and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

"In fact, we're just starting to work on our fourth album on Monday, so it's happening, it's happening, and it's happening right now," Clifford said. When asked for a timeline for the release date of new music, he replied, "Who knows, we are looking at all possibilities, this could be this year or the next."
