James Kwabena Bomfeh, Acting Secretary General of the CPP
Acting Secretary General of the Convention People's Party (PCP), James Kwabena Bomfeh, said that he had accepted in good faith the Supreme Court's decision on State participation in the construction of the National Cathedral.
He promised, however, to encourage traditional priests from his hometown to ask President Akufo-Addo to build a national shrine.
According to him, he could do nothing after the decision, but he will also lead a campaign for the construction of a national shrine for traditional priests.
Mr. Bomfeh brought a lawsuit in the court of law to prevent the government from participating in the construction of the 5,000-seat national cathedral.
He baderted that Ghana was a secular state and that, therefore, it was wrong for the state to be "excessively entangled in a religion or religious practice".
In a unanimous ruling on Wednesday by the Supreme Court, the state's decision did not violate any constitutional provisions.
