Ms. Kosi Antwiwaa Yankey, Executive Director of the National Council of Small Industries (NBSSI), urged small businesses to focus on developing their brands and products to meet international market standards.

According to her, once well planned and executed, her products and services would be propelled to compete favorably with other products on the world market.

Ms. Yankey said this when NBSSI management awarded prizes to the winners of the Ghana Women Entrepreneurship Summit pitch contest (GWES-2018) in Accra on Tuesday.
The contest, which included 25 participants, was part of the series of events organized for GWES-2018 for women entrepreneurs. Three women's businesses emerged as winners.
Del Chris Africa Limited, a confectionery producer, was declared the winner of the pitch contest with a cash prize of 10,000 GH ¢, used to acquire a milling machine and an installation, as well as to modernize its electrical installation. machines to improve their operation.

Myda Foods, which came in second, received a cash prize of 6,000 GH ¢, used for the purchase of packaging materials for its products, while the third prize awarded to Qualitrace, a supplier. anti-counterfeiting and traceability services, received 4 000 GH ¢. which has been used to upgrade their software to improve their operation.

The Executive Director stated that the purpose of the competition was to bring together women entrepreneurs to share innovative ideas and present their activities to potential investors.

"The competition is also about building trust and broadening their horizons," she said.

She expressed the joy and the importance of NBSSI in supporting women entrepreneurs, who contribute greatly to the Ghanaian economy.

Roseline Delali Ashigbui, Executive Director of Del Chris Africa Limited, congratulated NBSSI's management for their support and commitment to small businesses over the years.

She added that the NBSSI had in fact kept its promise to give them prize money and other support activities awarded to the winners of the contest.

In addition to the cash prize, each winner has access to NBSSI's free business development service for a period of six months and has undertaken study tours to successful businesses across the country.

The winners also received a tablet and Internet services from Vodafone Ghana, one of the main sponsors of GWES-2018.
