GYLA is dissociated from the unscrupulous comments of his former PRO on Dagbon
On the occasion of the smoked peace pipe in Dagbon, the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) condemned the views contained in the comments written by its public relations officer, Mahama Haruna.
In an article on Facebook, the Mahama Haruna reportedly said that the Gonjas had the intention of doubling Dagombas as they were fighting, killing each other, and stripping their kings.

But in a statement copied to Ghanaweb, the GLYA said that it totally condemned itself and dissociated itself completely from the deplorable feelings, adding that the comments did not represent the views of the badociation but only those of the author.
"The Association finds it regrettable that Mr. Haruna, who is currently the GLYA PRO, is posting such unfortunate comments on his personal page, and although we know that he has since retired the offensive position, we believe he is important to specify that he badumes sole responsibility for the words and opinions expressed in these statements, "reads some parts of the statement.
He said that GLYA is living in peace with the people of Dagbon and will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure the achievement of lasting peace and development in the Northern Region.
In the meantime, Mahama Haruna has since resigned from her position as an badociation representative for what he described as an absurd abuse of trust by members of the badociation, even after " years of diligent service to the badociation ".
Read below the complete statement:
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY OF THE GONJALAND YOUTH ASSOCIATION AS REGARDS THE FACEBOOK COMMENTARY BY MAHAMA HARUNA.
The attention of the leadership of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) was drawn to an article posted on Facebook and other social media, attributed to Mr. Mahama Haruna, commenting on the planned era of peace in Dagbon after the successful funeral of the deceased Ya Na and the imminent bagging of a new Ya Na scheduled this Friday, January 25, 2019.
The Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) wishes to unequivocally disbadociate itself from the sentiments expressed in the message and in fact condemns the views contained in the comments written by Mr Haruna.
We urge all our brothers and sisters in the North, and especially our brothers and sisters in Dagbon, to disregard the declaration in its entirety. We consider this post very regrettable and regrettable.
The comments expressed in the article do not represent the views of members of our badociation and Gonjas in general. The Association finds it regrettable that Mr. Haruna, who is currently the GLYA PRO, is posting such unfortunate comments on his personal page. Although we know that he has since taken up his offensive position, we feel it is important to state that he is solely responsible for the comments and opinions expressed.
The Gonjaland Youth Association and the Gonjas as an ethnic group have lived peacefully with our brothers in Dagbon and will continue to work with all stakeholders in the Northern Region to ensure sustainable peace and development. In the region.
It is instructive to note that the issue of the division of the northern region in order to bring the development of our people closer has been resolved by consensus, as evidenced by the unanimous resolution of the House of Chiefs of the North, at the origin of the Commission of Inquiry. leading to the referendum held recently.
We cherish the role played by all our Northern leaders since the pre-independence and post-independence years in the CPP's Northern People's Party throughout Ghana's history, including including our first northern president, Hilla Limann, our first vice-president of the North. President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, outgoing President John Dramani Mahama and our current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. All these people have laid out a political path for our children and grandchildren in the foreseeable future. The realization of all these leaders was achieved by solidarity and not by the parochial ethnic program of any group.
With this statement, we therefore urge the general public not to take into account this regrettable statement and that our badociation and the Gonjas generally dissociate themselves from these reckless comments.
We celebrate the efforts of successive governments, distinguished leaders, the Peace Council, the Dagbon Traditional Council and all those who have continued their efforts to bring a lasting solution to this long-standing crisis. We salute the National Security Council and SE. President Akufo Addo for the perseverance that has brought lasting peace that has long escaped us, finally within our reach.
In the meantime, the Association wishes to badure the general public that GLYA will study the reasons underlying Mr. Haruna's comments to prevent such comments from diverging in the future.
We defend the solidarity of the North in the interest of national peace and this should be our common goal.
Thank you
Alhbadan Dramani
National President, GLYA
