Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
The Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, voting member of the Oscars, expressed dissatisfaction with the 2019 edition of the awards.
The veteran actress said she was not happy that no African film is on the 2019 Oscar nominations list.
Omotola, who was enlisted as a voting member of the Oscars in 2018, revealed this information in a post posted on Instagram where she shared her thoughts on the nominated films.
Although she expressed her delight at the fact that the films she voted for were chosen, the actress is more concerned that no African film is featured on the list.
"The nominations are over! So glad that most of the movies I have named have come to that. Then vote to determine the winners! … Has not been so excited No African film has succeeded! We will do that soon for Africans! … "
Jalade-Ekeinde is not the only Nigerian to have been invited to join the Oscars voters in 2018. Filmmaker Femi Odugbemi has also been invited.
Films like "The Favorite" and "Roma" were the most nominated films, with 10 each, while "Black Panther" received seven nominations.
