The leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) pledged to create a "Heroes Fund" to enable the party to meet the needs of their members and supporters.
The fund was supposed to support NDC loyalists who face misfortune or are incapacitated by working for the party.
It was launched in 2011 and registered as a non-governmental organization to be governed by a seven-member board of directors.
Eight years later, it became necessary for the NDC to investigate the features of the Heroes Fund.
Ekwow Spio Garbrah, presidential candidate for the NDC, said Thursday in an exclusive interview with Nana Yaw Kesseh, peace FM host, that the presidential candidate of the CND had defeated the initiative.
According to Spio Garbrah, the initiative perceived as good, hit home because of its "mismanagement".
"… the fund is now a white elephant, it's a mirage … it did not work.It collapsed because of mismanagement, as d & # 39; It did not exist, we created it but it did not work, "he added.
In light of this, the CND President, Hope, said that he would create a "Social Protection Fund" to replace the "Fund of Heroes" when delegates would have voted to lead the party to the victory, by 2020.
The social protection fund, he explained, will aim to "support and provide social, health, economic, social and other benefits to the" disadvantaged members and sympathizers of the NDC, in order to "protect" them while at the same time. along their life.
