Monaco has dismissed his manager Thierry Henry after 20 games in his place.

The Ligue 1 wrestlers announced Thursday that he had been suspended, but BBC Sport understands that it's just a procedure and that the winner of the World Cup France has already left the club.

Predecessor Leonardo Jardim is expected to replace Henry, just over three months after being sacked.

The French champions 2017 are in the relegation zone after only five wins under Henry in all competitions.

Franck Pbadi, Henry's badistant on December 20, will be training Friday, the club said.

Pbadi has previously held the positions of interim head of Marseille and Lille.

Henry – who was hired in October – was excused for using foul language to insult Strasbourg defender Kenny Lala in his team's 5-1 defeat on Saturday.

The best scorer of all time Arsenal is in his first role as manager, after being deputy director in Belgium.

He was selected for the Aston Villa manager position in October before being appointed to the club where he began his playing career.

Analysis

French football journalist Julien Laurens on BBC Radio 5 live

This morning, sources at the club were telling everyone that his job was safe. Tonight they announced that basically he would be fired.

Two wins out of 12 in the league are clearly not enough. He insulted a player from Strasbourg and clashes took place with some media.

Perhaps the last straw was to decide to drop some of his players from the first team on the reserves without mentioning it to the club's hierarchy and I think it eventually cost him his job. This was not how the club wanted him to behave. All of this put together meant that he would no longer be the manager.

Leonardo Jardim still lives in Monaco and sees players in the street when he goes to the bakery. He is the favorite to replace Henry. He had amazing results, winning the championship in 2017, before this season when everything was not going well for the team.
