Thierry Henry was suspended Thursday by Monaco

Monaco sacked head coach Thierry Henry and re-engaged Leonardo Jardim for a two-and-a-half year contract.

Henry was suspended by Monaco on Thursday with the club's second bottom in Ligue 1, after taking just 15 points in 21 games this season.

The former Arsenal striker has now separated from the club, replaced by his predecessor Jardim at the Stade Louis II.

Jardim himself was sacked by Monaco in October after a poor start to the campaign.

Vice President of Monaco Vadim Vasilyev explained the decision to rehire Jardim to replace Henry.

"Our club is going through a very difficult time and I am willing to admit that I personally bear the responsibility," Vasilyev said.

"We must recognize that during the summer transfer period, we sold too many key players and, despite considerable investment, mistakes were made regarding their replacement.

"It did not allow us to create a new competitive team, and the decision to fire Leonardo Jardim was also premature.

Henry failed to win a home league match while he was head coach, but the former France international said he "had really enjoyed" his fate at the club's head.

He said: "It is with great sadness that I have separated from AS Monaco, despite the difficulties and difficulties we encountered during my short trip, I still fully enjoyed my stay in this wonderful club.

"My ambition and my philosophy since the day of my arrival will always be that the club comes first.
