An airline hostess from Hawaiian Airlines has died on a flight to New York

A flight attendant from Hawaiian Airlines died Thursday night in a flight to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, according to a statement from Hawaiian Airlines.

Emile Griffith, the attendant, had been working for Hawaiian Airlines for 31 years.

Ann Botticelli, a representative of Hawaiian Airlines, said the airline was "deeply saddened" by the pbading of Griffith.

"Emile loved and appreciated his work in Hawaii and always shared it with our guests, our heart is with his family, his friends and all those who have the chance to know him," wrote Business Insider.

Hawaiian Airlines Flight 50 left Honolulu around 4:15 pm. local time Thursday, depending on the airline. The plane landed about five hours later at 23:05. local hour.

Hawaii News Now reported that Griffith had a "medical emergency". The point of sale also reported that a doctor and an ambulance attendant had attended.

"We are eternally grateful to Emile's colleagues and good Samaritans who have stood by him and provided extensive medical help," Botticelli said.

A pbadenger told Hawaii News Now that Hawaiian Airlines had informed the pbadenger of the death only after their emergency landing in San Francisco. After that, the pbadengers waited about two hours for the coroner to arrive.

There were 253 pbadengers and 12 crew members on board.

A pbadenger says on Twitter Hawaiian Airlines paid pbadengers staying at a hotel to book a new flight. All pbadengers had to be relocated on the first available flights and would be compensated, added Botticelli.
