The boss of Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone, insisted that nothing had happened between the club and Chelsea because of Alvaro Morata's potential for movement.
With the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, loaned by Juventus, the 26-year-old should end his stint at Stamford Bridge with a return to La Liga.
While Sevilla had been keen to recruit the striker, he pulled out due to the Spanish's transfer fee. Atletico, however, is ready to bring back its old product from the academy to the Spanish capital with an initial loan.
However, with about six days before closing the transfer counter until the summer, Simeone revealed that no agreement had yet been reached.
Simeone said, "Beyond all the wonderful words you said, nothing is done, what matters is what you do."
"We are who we are here and we need to be smart about tomorrow's match, and if, in the end, the transfer of Morata becomes something real, I will talk about my thoughts."
However, as at the press conference this afternoon, Blues deputy director Gianfranco Zola said an agreement was being prepared.
"I do not have any updates on this, I can not give you any indication," Zola said. "There is an interest, I know it, and I think they're working on it, but I can not give you more."
