The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, officially launched and unveiled the logo of the Expo and Awards for Safety and Security in Africa 2019 (ASAS Expo) in Accra.
The event, scheduled for May 22-25, would serve as a platform to engage all relevant security sector actors to discuss current issues and other new threats to the security of the country.
Under the theme "Advancing Africa through Security Technologies", the ASAS EXPO and Awards aims to reward investors who have over the years contributed to improving skills in the areas of borders, shipping, aviation, security and intelligence.
At the launch of the program on Thursday, 24 January, the Speaker of Parliament urged all security personnel to adopt new methods of fighting crime in the country.
He added that state security agencies should always have a head start and be smarter than criminals to ensure adequate security in the country.
"Security agencies need to be wiser than the wisest of criminals, smarter than the smartest criminals to keep our societies safe," he said.
The Africa Security Expo, Expo Safety and Awards (ASAS Expo) will feature more than 20 international CPD training sessions, host more than 40 awards, attract more than 200 exhibitors, regulators, local and international buyers and more than 5,000 visitors in May 2019.
The upcoming event is being organized in partnership by the Ghana Maritime Authority, the Mullen Lowe brand company, Global Haulage and the National Cybersecurity Center.
