During his press conference, Arsenal boss Unai Emery said he should not start with Mesut Ozil against Manchester United.

The Gunners' boss has again left Ozil on the bench and is only 26 seconds ahead of the German, replacing Alex Iwobi by the hosts 2-1.

Ozil, who earns £ 350,000 a week after signing a new contract 12 months ago, has not had an easy life under Emery.

The 30-year-old has played only 12 Premier League matches this season and only two since November 11 with back and knee injuries.

This has led to suggestions that Emery would like to unload Ozil, which he has denied so far, but the roles on the bench against Chelsea and last night against Man Utd will once again drive up speculation Release.

When asked why he had not started Ozil last night, Emery replied, "He played."

When asked why he did not start the offensive midfielder, he added, "Because I also think I can play against other players."

Ozil's lack of playing time gave rise to rumors linking him to a January decision, but he was asked if the former German international had a future at Arsenal before Chrstmas. Emery replied, "Yes, why not?"

"I do not think about this situation," he said to the question of whether Ozil could leave.

A trip to Turkey has been suggested for the player born in Gelsenkirchen, while Man Utd have also been provisionally linked with a bold gesture for Ozil – 12 months after taking Alexis Sanchez from the Gunners.
