Winters can seriously dry your scalp, causing dandruff and itching.
But thanks to these tips shared by Indian hair specialists Gaurang Krishna and Blossom Kochhar, you can get around the problem. Here's what the experts suggest:
1. Say no to stress
Stress affects various aspects of our health and well-being. Although it does not directly cause itching of the scalp, it can worsen the symptoms.
2. Limit your wash cycle
Excessive use of shampoo can strip your hair of lucrative moisture and leave it even drier. Washing your hair less often will help restore its natural luster. Incorporate a mild, pH-balanced, sulfate-free shampoo with a moisturizing conditioner into your hair care routine. Oiling the scalp one hour before washing the head will also soothe the skin of the scalp.
3. Pay attention to your diet
Increase your intake of probiotics and water. Probiotics strengthen the immune system, which helps the body fight fungal infections that contribute to dandruff or dry scalp. In addition, drink at least eight glbades of water to improve the health of your scalp and the future growth of your hair.
4. Limit the heat style
Avoid excessive use of thermal / aesthetic treatments such as hair curlers, straighteners and dryers. In fact, hot styling products should not be applied to the scalp at all. When using these tools, make sure that they are kept clear of the skin. The overuse of styling tools to heat absorbs all the moisture in the hair and leaves them dry and brittle.
5. Get the right products
Choose a softer moisturizing shampoo and make sure you rinse your hair thoroughly. Aggressive shampoos strip your hair of moisture. They contain sodium that can be hard for the scalp and lead to dryness and itching. It is advisable to carefully read the ingredients of the shampoo and see what is best for you. In addition, it is recommended to avoid using hot water when rinsing your hair.
6. Let yourself be tempted by the humidity
Opt for a moisturizing treatment of the scalp for the benefits of rehydration. A generous application of oil and a mbadage are extremely beneficial before washing your hair. You can create your own mbadage oil by mixing a tablespoon of coconut oil, castor oil, sesame oil and lavender essential oil.
Warm up the oil by placing the container in a bowl of warm water and gently mbadage it onto your scalp. Wrap a warm towel around your hair and leave it for half an hour before shampooing. For more luster, use a few drops of Ylang Ylang on freshly washed hair. It will give instant shine and keep the ends split.
7. Avoid scratching too much
Avoid scratching completely as it may scratch the scalp and cause further aggravation. Apply a soothing scalp tonic to relieve irritation.
