The government has taken the necessary steps to rebuild the 54-year-old, 19-kilometer Tema Highway into a six-lane highway.

Built under the administration of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president, the project would facilitate traffic on the Accra-Tema road and to the main cities in the eastern corridor and neighboring countries, including Togo.

The highway was originally built to transform Tema into an industrial center of the newly independent nation and had not yet undergone any major renovation.

Mr. Kwasi Amoako Atta, Minister of Roads and Highways, announced it during a tour of some project sites in Accra with a team consisting of Mr. Anthony Karbo, one of his badistants and some agency directors of the ministry.

He said that the government was determined to overcome the obstacles badociated with the mbadive encroachment of the reserve area in order to rebuild the road to support its industrialization program, which would play a key role in the program. beyond aid in Ghana ".

The minister warned property development agencies and individuals against any building ban on road reserve areas and that the authorities would be harsh in demolishing structures in these exclusive areas.

At Mile 7, Mr. Amoako Atta ordered a developer to stop a construction project and asked the contractor to produce, within two days, the permit allowing him to do so. undertake the construction.

When the team arrived at the Pokuase Exchange Project, the Minister commended the contractors for their early work and for having played a key role in the re-evaluation process.
