Liverpool's Alisson insists Man City is the favorite of the title race, not its leaders

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson told his Premier League rivals Manchester City that the title would be theirs to lose.

The Brazilian international, worth 67 million pounds, thinks Jurgen Klopp's men are still outsiders in their bid to become champions for the first time in 29 years – despite a four-point advantage over Pep Guardiola and his defending champions with 15 games to play.

Liverpool will face Leicester at Anfield on Wednesday. Klopp hopes his players will enjoy the benefits of a warm weather training camp in Dubai. They will probably start the meeting with the thinnest of the leaders on City, who goes to Newcastle in difficulty the night before.

Alisson said: "Liverpool now has the quality to fight for the biggest trophies, there is no doubt.

"But we still have a long way to go and it's important to know where we are going.

"City proved its strength by winning the league comfortably last year. They have also invested for this season and their team is even better now. They are very tough opponents and big favorites.

"However, we also aim to win the league this season and I believe in our talent to go to the end. But we must think step by step and make sure we keep our feet on the ground. "

Alisson caused a sensation since his arrival from Rome in summer.

He has conceded only 13 goals in 23 league games this season, while Liverpool retains the best defense in the division. Three of those goals were scored in the 4-3 home win against Crystal Palace last time.

City are the top scorers in the Premier League, with 62 goals, and their plus-45 goal difference is four more than the total leaders.

However, the Blues in the four-track pursuit face an accumulation of matches at the end of the season.

Liverpool's quick exit from the two national cups allowed Klopp to take his team to the Middle East last week, while Guardiola prepared his team for clashes with Rotherham, Burton and Burnley.
