EU says it is reviewing Siemens and Alstom concessions on a rail deal

BERLIN (Reuters) – The European Commission is examining Alstom's proposed changes (ALSO.PA) and Siemens (SIEGn.DE) in order to dispel the European Union's concerns over a planned merger of their rail activities, EU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager told Reuters.

Vestager, speaking at a pro-corporate Free Democrats Party congress in Berlin, confirmed that companies had made further concessions Friday on the terms of the agreement, but said the changes had been presented on the 110th day of the process, which was "well, beyond the usual time frame."

When asked if the door was still open for a possible deal, Vestager said, "We are reviewing what was handed to us this Friday. This is the last push, if possible. "
