The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) state that notices on social networks and other online platforms concerning recruitment in force are scams.
Colonel E Aggrey-Quarshie, director of public relations at GAF, has signed a statement that unsuspecting Ghanaians have been cheated by these social media recruitment scams.
"These fraudsters use images of senior military as promoters of fraudulent agreements to defraud unsuspecting individuals who interest to be recruited or enlisted. GAF would like to warn the general public that it does NOT use social media platforms for recruitment / recruitment purposes.
"All potential candidates are therefore informed that all announcements of GAF recruitment and engagement are made through the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times," the statement said.
The GAF said in the statement that it was not recruiting through agents or intermediaries.
"There is therefore no obligation to pay money to a person or a group of people. The public is advised to report individuals, including soldiers who claim to sell forms or have the opportunity to recruit at the nearest police station or military facility.
"We want to badure the general public that it is necessary to recruit and enroll in GAF. it will be published in the national dailies: The Ghanaian Times, the Daily Graphic and the GAF website, "said GAF.
