With anti-social behavior on the rise, the youth of Welwyn Hatfield denounce the decline of free activities for young people.
A recent survey released by the YMCA and 2,200 youth suggested that one-third of young people thought there were not enough activities in the area to occupy them.
In all of Welwyn and Hatfield boroughs, there are 39 free activities per week for youth for young people of different ages.
Of the 2,200 youth surveyed, 109 admitted carrying a weapon and 22% attended other youths with a weapon.
Since the publication of the survey results, it has been suggested to create more free activities for young people in the Woodhall area, where most antisocial behaviors have been reported.
Malcolm Cowan, Liberal Democrat Councilor for Peartree and Woodhall said, "This completely confirms what we told council officials, that a much wider range of activities must be offered to young people. . "
"The council must make sure that it improves its game by working with young service providers in the region. We have waited long enough.
George, 14, chairman of the Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council, said, "It's really sad to see a small minority of young people behave in ways that cause harm to the community."
