Alstom and Siemens confirm new merger concessions to meet antitrust requirements

PARIS (Reuters) – Alstom and Siemens have made new concessions to try to meet the requirements of antitrust laws and get the green light for a proposed merger of their rail activities, confirmed Monday Alstom.

"However, there is still no certainty that the content of this package is sufficient to ease the concerns of the Commission," said Alstom in his statement.

EU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager told Reuters on Sunday that her staff was reviewing last-minute changes filed by both companies on Friday.

People familiar with the subject said last week that EU competition control would block the deal, with a decision likely to be taken on 6 February before the February 18 deadline.
