Kidnapper suggests girls are alive – Minister of Women's Affairs

Samuel Udoetuk Wills, a 28-year-old Nigerian suspected of being the mainstay of the kidnapping of three girls in the metropolis of Sekondi / Takoradi, started pbading information to the police and confirmed that these girls were still alive.

"The suspect, in custody for kidnapping three girls in the western region, started talking to the investigators team," revealed the minister of gender, the Childhood and Social Protection, Mrs. Cynthia Mamle Morrison.

The minister said this during her visit to the community and the families of the victims yesterday to badure them of the government's commitment to find the three missing girls alive and reuniting them with their families.

"I'm glad the suspect started talking and I have to say I'm going to visit him and talk to him myself," she said.

The minister warned the public against panic, speculation and unspoken suspicions, saying that they should keep hope alive.

Mrs. Morrison said that as a mother, she was sensitive to family pain because she was very traumatic.

The minister said that even if Ghanaians were known for their hospitality to foreigners, the public should be careful who and how they approached the people who are hiring them for the first time.

"One of the painful things is that the suspect is not a stranger to the population; it is one that the victims and the community know and it is part of it, which is a revelation, we must rethink our approach, "she said.
