The three missing girls from Takoradi
A team of investigators from the United Kingdom and the United States of America arrived in the country to help the Ghana police search for girls kidnapped by Takoradi.
Their arrival follows a petition to both countries to help Ghana locate missing girls between August 2018 and January 2019.
The girls were identified as Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie.
This follows a weekend in which police in the Eastern Region arrested 15 people in connection with the kidnappings.
The suspects were arrested last Saturday at dawn in Nuaso, Odumase. According to the commander of the Odumasi police, the ASP Harry Selormey, the raid was conducted in collaboration with the Takoradi police.
ASP Harry Selormey said that a team of Takoradi staff, where the girls were missing, had launched the operation with credible information.
Kidnappings in the western region have garnered widespread support for traumatized families and a social media campaign led by Ghanaians has urged the police to be more aggressive in finding missing girls.

The director general of the CID, DCOP, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, and the high ranking police command of the western region visited Saturday the families of the three girls abducted in separate meetings in Takoradi.
The CID official said the case investigation team had been strengthened and had badured families to redouble their efforts to rescue the girls.
She also informed the families of the kidnapped girls that the president had asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to give priority to investigations into the case.
The main suspect in these kidnappings is one of Nigerians, Samuel Udoetuk Wills.
The 28-year-old made the headlines for the first time when he escaped from the police custody on December 30, 2018 after cutting the iron bars at the windows of his cell.
He was later arrested in Nkroful, near Takoradi.
