Facebook has outright rejected a report of former clbadmate Mark Zuckerberg at Harvard, according to which more than half of social network users are fakes.
The report was released last week by Aaron Greenspan, who studied alongside the billionaire technology leader and claims to have first had the idea of Facebook.
In this 75-page study, Greenspan said fake accounts accounted for more than half of Facebook's 2.2 billion users. This contradicts Facebook, which claimed in 2017 that only 2-3% of the platform's accounts were fake.
"Facebook has lied to the public about the extent of its problem with fake accounts, which probably exceed 50% of its network, and its official statistics – most of which it has stopped reporting quarterly – are contradictory and even ridiculous, "he added. report says. Facebook has strongly denied the results. "It's an unmistakable and responsible mistake that means you're reporting facts, even if it's fake accounts," a Facebook spokesman told Mashable. Facebook gave no further explanation. Business Insider contacted the firm for more details.
Greenspan has been a critical critic of Facebook in the past. Last August, for example, he stated that the platform had caused "countless deaths" because of its addictive qualities. In his report, Greenspan acknowledged a certain degree of bias.
"The author of this report is in the strange position of trying to write objectively on a topic with which he has personal connections, so readers are encouraged to dismiss this badysis as biased, but should know that it can nevertheless be correct, "he wrote.
