Suicide is not an option – NUGS warns students

The Ghana National Union of Students (NUGS) has warned its members not to consider suicide when they face challenges in their lives.

NUGS in a statement leading families of two students of higher education who died during the weekend (one by presumed suicide) said: "Whatever project or problem you are in confronted, THE SUICIDE SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION ".

"The National Union of Ghanaian Students has learned the unfortunate demise of Ghanaian students Emmanuel Akandor and De-Graft Acheampong of the Wa Development University (UDS) and the University of Science and Technology Kwame Nkrumah (KNUST), respectively, with great shock and sorrow, "said the statement.

"Akandor died following a presumed suicide yesterday while De-Graft had been the victim of an unfortunate fire that occurred in the KO Methodist Bookshop in Kumasi yesterday, 27/01/19, around 10:30.

"The direction of the Union advisable no matter what activity or problem you face, SUICIDE SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION. There are more opportunities to keep in times of struggle.
